Ruellia

Ruellia is another wildflower favorite that I've loved from childhood.  It would spring up here and there around the oak trees at Mom's.  I just happen to have some in my yard.  I think it came in with the dirt around the black haw tree that my older brother gave me.  Whenever I weed around the haw tree, I make sure to leave this enchanting little purple flower undisturbed.
It is in bloom now.

  1. It is definitely a beautiful little thing. I do love its color. A wild flower in the yard brings a smile. My problem is I do not know their names I guess because I was never was taught them. If it was covered in school I was not paying attention... LOL

    1. I did not know this one's name until after I was an adult. I only knew its face. I think I've learned a lot more about plants since I've been out of school than before. To paraphrase Mark Twain, I've tried not to let schooling get in the way of my education.
