End of a mild October

I can hardly believe it's almost the end of October.  The month has zipped by for me.  It has been quite mild, weather wise, and today I pulled off a few of the bell peppers that are still bearing.

I have a small shiitake mushroom on my log.

The pansies are looking colorful.

Hope you've had a good October.

  1. I do like the Pansies near your topiary It looks sorta fancy! We have been eating a lot of green peppers this year, x-DIL has kept us supplied.
We have about 8 blooms on our cantaloupes. None on the tomato plants yet. Son mark brought two Banana trees over, they sure are small. We will be taking off soon. I hope this stuff can manage on their own.

Do you eat mushrooms you pick? I love mushrooms but no NOTHING about them outside the grocers.
We have had a great October.

    1. Yes, I do eat them, though when I had my largest harvest, I did let some go to waste. Unfortunately, dh and ds do not care for them, so it's all up to me to eat them. I prefer to sauté them, perhaps with bell peppers and onions. That is good served with beef. Sautéed in a little butter, they are reasonably good in a scrambled egg or omelet. I have also used them on a homemade pizza.
